Position Summary
The Operations Management Intern – Modular Fabrication will gain hands-on experience across multiple areas of Enerfab’s modular fabrication operations, including estimating, project management, and shop operations. This paid internship is designed to provide students with exposure to the full lifecycle of modular fabrication projects, from initial estimating and planning through fabrication, execution, and delivery.
The intern will work alongside estimating, project management, and shop operations teams to learn how projects are planned, priced, coordinated, and executed safely and efficiently. This position is ideal for a student interested in construction management, engineering, operations, or industrial project execution who wants practical experience in a fabrication environment.

Key Responsibilities
Estimating
  • Assist the estimating team with quantity takeoffs, material pricing, labor estimates, and bid preparation.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and other project documents to understand project scope.
  • Assist with gathering vendor and subcontractor pricing.
  • Support the organization and preparation of estimates, proposals, and supporting documentation.
  • Gain an understanding of how fabrication methods, labor requirements, materials, and schedules impact project costs.
Project Management
  • Support Project Managers with project planning, scheduling, documentation, and coordination.
  • Assist with tracking project costs, materials, schedules, and overall progress.
  • Participate in project meetings and communicate with internal departments regarding project needs.
  • Help maintain project documentation, reports, action items, and other project records.
  • Gain exposure to project changes, procurement, quality requirements, safety expectations, and customer deliverables.
Shop Operations
  • Spend time on the shop floor learning how modular fabrication projects move from drawings and plans into production.
  • Work alongside shop leadership to understand manpower planning, production schedules, workflow, and fabrication processes.
  • Assist with tracking production progress and identifying potential scheduling or material constraints.
  • Gain exposure to safety, quality, productivity, material management, and continuous improvement within a fabrication environment.
  • Learn how estimating, project management, engineering, quality, and shop operations work together to successfully execute projects.
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Interest in industrial construction, fabrication, project management, estimating, or operations.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in both an office and fabrication shop environment.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively with project managers, estimators, engineers, shop leadership, and craft professionals.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Previous construction, fabrication, manufacturing, or internship experience is a plus but not required.
