Summary: The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of on-site construction activities for industrial projects. This leadership role involves managing construction teams, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and delivering projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Supervision:
Lead and oversee all on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to project plans and specifications.
Collaborate with regional managers and engineers to establish project schedules and milestones.
Monitor and control project progress to meet or exceed project goals.
Team Management:
Supervise and coordinate the work of field staff, subcontractors, and vendors. 2
Provide leadership, mentorship, and training to construction teams.
Assign tasks and responsibilities to construction personnel and ensure accountability.
Safety and Compliance:
Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations on the construction site.
Conduct safety meetings, inspections, and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
Ensure compliance with all applicable building codes and permits.
Quality Control:
Maintain high-quality standards by inspecting work in progress and completing projects.
Address and resolve any construction-related issues, defects, or discrepancies.
Ensure that construction work meets or exceeds quality expectations.
Materials and Equipment:
Coordinate the procurement and delivery of construction materials and equipment.
Manage inventory and ensure the availability of necessary resources.
Ensure proper utilization and maintenance of construction equipment.
Budget and Cost Management:
Monitor project budgets and control expenses to meet financial objectives.
Review and approve subcontractor and vendor invoices.
Report on cost performance and recommend cost-saving measures.
Client Relations:
Act as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders on-site.
Provide regular project updates and address client inquiries and concerns.
Foster positive client relationships and enhance the company's reputation.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate project records, including daily logs, progress reports, and change orders.
Generate and submit project-related reports to project management.
Ensure all project documentation is complete and well organized.
Project Estimation:
Assist in preparing cost estimates for industrial construction projects, including material take offs, labor and equipment costs, subcontractor bids, and other project expenses.
Generate and submit project-related reports to project management.
Collaborate with senior estimators to ensure accurate and competitive project pricing.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field; additional certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR) are a plus.
5+ years of experience as a Superintendent/Estimator in industrial construction or a related industry.
Must have industry knowledge of industrial piping estimation, union pipefitting experience is a plus
Strong knowledge of construction methods, safety protocols, and industry standards.
Proficiency in construction management software and project scheduling tools.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic construction environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND EXPECTATIONS
Some job duties are performed within an established office environment under normal lighting and climate-controlled tolerances. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
When the employee is at a work site, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places and outdoor weather conditions. The noise in the work environment is often loud.
Requires a consistent physical presence at the branch office to oversee shared services functions and employees, normally achieved by working standard business hours. Certain positions will require flexibility of working hours to meet the demands of the job and the direction of the manager.
