Summary:
The Field Engineer II will play a key role in overseeing project activities, conducting site inspections, coordinating with project teams, and ensuring that construction projects progress smoothly and according to specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Oversight:
Assume a leadership role in overseeing construction projects, including monitoring progress, quality, and safety compliance.
Collaborate with project managers to ensure project objectives are met.
Site Inspections:
Conduct comprehensive site inspections to verify construction activities align with project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
Document and report findings and coordinate corrective actions when necessary.
Surveying and Layout:
Perform and supervise surveying and layout tasks, ensuring accurate measurements, dimensions, and elevations.
Provide guidance to junior Field Engineers and surveying teams.
Coordination and Communication:
Facilitate effective communication and coordination among project teams, including engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Resolve design and construction-related issues in a timely manner.
Quality Assurance:
Lead quality control efforts by conducting detailed inspections, verifying compliance with quality standards, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
Ensure that as-built drawings accurately reflect construction changes.
Safety and Compliance:
Promote and enforce safety protocols and guidelines on the construction site, emphasizing a culture of safety.
Conduct safety audits and investigations as required.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Collect, analyze, and interpret construction data, materials usage, and progress to support decision-making.
Generate comprehensive reports and summaries for project management and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, electrical engineering or other related field.
2-5 years of relevant experience in construction or engineering, with a focus on electrical industrial construction projects.
Proficiency in surveying equipment, measurement tools, and computer-aided design (CAD) software.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication and leadership abilities.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Willingness to work in an outdoor construction environment.
Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND EXPECTATIONS
Some job duties are performed within an established office environment under normal lighting and climate-controlled tolerances. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
When the employee is at a work site, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places and outdoor weather conditions. The noise in the work environment is often loud.
Requires a consistent physical presence at the branch office to oversee shared services functions and employees, normally achieved by working standard business hours. Certain positions will require flexibility of working hours to meet the demands of the job and the direction of the manager.
