The Buyer’s role is to purchase tools, equipment, services, and operating supplies that meet project requirements and company quality standards at the lowest total cost of ownership. Provide analysis and recordkeeping related to company tools, equipment, and vehicle fleet. Work with Field Superintendents, Shop Foreman, Project Managers, and others to provide the required tools, equipment, and services in a timely manner. Document tool and equipment activity in order to ensure that accurate records are available.
Responsibilities
Work with field superintendents and project management to purchase required tools and equipment, supplies, and services for electrical construction projects and business operations.
Deploy to field locations when required to provide purchasing support for large projects.
Maintain records related to company tools, equipment, and vehicle fleet.
Process tool and equipment requisitions and jobsite general conditions requests and place accurate, complete orders. Track tool and equipment activity using the third-party tool provider tool tracking software.
Maintain reports of company assets and keep record of current locations of assets and vehicle drivers.
Prepare paperwork and packaging and loading of outgoing small package and LTL shipments. Perform small package and LTL truck unloading and notification of receipt of incoming shipments.
Coordinate marketing and disposal of surplus company tools, equipment, and materials.
Order rental equipment for jobsites as directed by field superintendents and project management. Coordinate transfer of company equipment between jobsites with carriers.
Purchase general conditions for jobsites including jobsite offices, furniture, trash service, portable restrooms, ice, water, storage containers, and other services as needed. Place blanket purchase orders for industrial gases and gas cylinder rentals.
Participate in department meetings.
Education and Skills Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required, a minimum of 3 years purchasing experience specific to the purchasing of tools, equipment, and services related to the Electrical construction industry.

Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must be able to lift 25 to 50 pounds and may occasionally need to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
