Position Description:

The Business Development Manager position is responsible for meeting new prospects, enhancing our client relationships, developing project opportunities, winning work, expanding and enhancing our profile in the Kansas City Region. This position will focus on construction and fabrication opportunities in the heavy industrial markets, including power generation, manufacturing, general contracting, chemical, oil and gas, food and beverage, and also continue to build and improve relationships with our local unions, engineering companies, subcontractor, and vendor partners.

Core Responsibilities:
 
  • KC Market Knowledge: Strong knowledge of the local market. Ability to identify prospects, understand our client needs, develop project opportunities, understand fundamental project scopes.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute an annual action plan for growth and improvement of both new prospects and existing clients to win work in the region that aligns with the company’s overall strategy.
  • Sales: Execute action plans to win profitable work in the region with new and existing clients.
  • Marketing: Build new and improve relationships at multiple levels with clients, prospects, and industry partners. Utilize a variety of dynamic tools to market Enerfab, including face-to-face meetings, telephone, strong written communication, marketing pieces, events, organization and community engagement.
  • Proposal Development: Coordinate and enhance input from all departments to develop strong proposals that win projects.
  • Project Acquisition: Win projects to build a strong, diverse pipeline of projects in the region to achieve sales goals.
  • Pre-Con Project Management: Manage all deliverables throughout the pre-construction, estimating, and proposal process, as well as perform follow up and reporting detailed bid results and lessons learned.
  • Project Support: Liaison consistently with clients throughout project development and execution, understand client priorities, enhance relations, and provide exemplary customer service.
  • Reporting: Provide regular sales status reports, manage Go/No Go process for project opportunities, submit updated action plans to achieve short and long-term sales goals.
  • Community Representation: Strategically join and participate in local community organizations that expand and improve our company profile in the market.
  • Retail Brand: Assist in developing company-branded uniform and merchandise items that meet our logo standards and enhance our company on the job and in the community.

  • Sales Skills: The ability to talk to all different types of people from executives to craft workers.
  • Marketing: Understand how to use all marketing media effectively and work with our internal marketing department to put together effective campaigns for the region. Survey customers for feedback and lead project closeout/lessons learned meetings.
  • Financials: Understand basic accounting and financial statements. Follow up on accounts receivable with customers.
  • Safety: Thorough understanding of our safety culture, our standards, and its critical importance. OSHA 30 training minimum preferred.
  • Quality: Commitment to always create a first-in-class product in our communications, marketing, branding, proposals, community participation, and company events.
  • Active Listening: Ability to recognize potential project challenges and customer issues and resolve them before creating problems.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required, with focus on business, marketing, construction, or engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience working in the Construction industry, preferably in the KC region.
  • Construction or Industrial project experience highly preferred.
  • Experience working with sales contracts, policies, transactions, and bidding/quote requests preferred.
  • Excellent leadership and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to use creative and innovative thinking to position Enerfab ahead of the competition.
  • This is not a remote position and you will be required to reside in the greater Kansas City area.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND EXPECTATIONS

Some job duties are performed within an established office environment under normal lighting and climate-controlled tolerances. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
When the employee is at a work site, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places and outdoor weather conditions. The noise in the work environment is often loud

Requires a consistent physical presence at the branch office to oversee shared services functions and employees, normally achieved by working standard business hours. Certain positions will require flexibility of working hours to meet the demands of the job and the direction of the manager. The work environments are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
