The Director of Quality is responsible for leading quality assurance efforts across construction and custom fabrication operations. This role ensures compliance with industry standards, maintains effective quality control processes, and promotes a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement to support successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities: Quality Leadership
Lead quality assurance initiatives for construction and custom fabrication operations across field construction projects and shop fabrication environments.
Support the development and implementation of quality programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
Quality Control & Compliance
Oversee implementation of quality control processes to meet project specifications and industry standards.
Conduct quality audits and inspections to ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
Ensure adherence to applicable codes and standards including AWS, ASME, AISC, ISO, and customer specifications.
Training & Quality Culture
Support quality training programs for project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Promote a culture focused on quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Safety & Regulatory Alignment
Partner with safety teams to align quality and safety programs.
Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, codes, and regulations.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain quality documentation including inspection reports, quality plans, and project records.
Provide quality performance updates and reporting to leadership.
Quality Improvement
Identify quality improvement opportunities and support corrective and preventive actions.
Collaborate with operations, engineering, and project management teams to implement best practices and strengthen quality outcomes.
Client & Team Collaboration
Support strong client relationships by addressing quality concerns and ensuring satisfaction with project outcomes.
Lead and mentor quality personnel, fostering teamwork and professional development.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering required; Construction Management, Quality Management, or related field considered
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) with active certification required.
3+ years of experience in construction and/or custom fabrication, including hands-on field and leadership experience.
Minimum 2 years in a quality or supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of construction quality control, welding standards, and safety protocols, including familiarity with AWS, ASME, AISC, or similar industry codes.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proficiency with quality management systems and inspection documentation tools.
Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Experience operating at a manager or senior supervisor level preferred.
Experience supporting industrial construction or heavy fabrication projects preferred.
