Mechanical Estimator - Industrial Piping

Summary:
The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for estimating the costs of industrial construction projects, particularly with an emphasis on industrial mechanical piping scopes. This individual will be familiar with our competitive advantages as an organization and will be able to communicate those to our benefit throughout the bidding process. This is an on-site role located in the greater Kansas City Metro area with some travel to job sites.
Responsibilities
- Project estimating coordination with all scopes when leading an estimate.
- Understand and communicate scopes to subcontractors and suppliers for pricing.
- Lead mechanical and pipe estimates and discuss strategies with onsite field teams.
- Develop and write a construction execution plan as well as associated indirect costs.
- Assist field teams with change orders and document organization.
- Site visits and job preconstruction meeting attendance if needed, occasionally overnight.
- Attend weekly estimating meetings.
- Attend and conduct internal and executive review meetings.
- Attend and conduct project turnover meetings with operations.
Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of 5-7 years of prior Industrial Pipe Estimating experience, new design/build or retrofit experience highly preferred.
- Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management is preferred, although not mandatory with the right background and practical experience.
- Estimating software knowledge (In Eight, Hard Dollar, Accubid, etc.)
- Must have the ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications
- Familiarity with engineering design documents (e.g., isometrics) and specification.
- Basic Industry knowledge in power, oil and gas, food/beverage/agriculture and/or water.
- EPC or design/build experience a plus.
- P6 scheduling knowledge is a plus.
- Communicates well with others.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND EXPECTATIONS
- Some job duties are performed within an established office environment under normal lighting and climate-controlled tolerances. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
- When the employee is at a work site, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places and outdoor weather conditions. The noise in the work environment is often loud.
- Requires a consistent physical presence at the branch office to oversee shared services functions and employees, normally achieved by working standard business hours. Certain positions will require a flexibility of working hours to meet the demands of the job and the direction of the manager.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or pulling.
- Frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds at times.
